Transport scams to know ⚠️

Overcharging taxis

Taxis are free to set their own fares and can be very expensive, especially from the airports.

Tip :Take the Flytoget/train or an app like Bolt rather than a street taxi.

Fjord excursions via middlemen

Some vendors resell excursions at a steep markup.

Tip :Book directly (Fjord Tours, Norway in a Nutshell, Entur).

Practical tips

  • Download the Entur app: it brings together trains, buses, ferries and metros across the whole country.
  • Book Vy train tickets on 'minipris' several weeks in advance to slash the price.
  • For the fjords and Lofoten, renting a car gives you a freedom public transport doesn't — fuel at 18-22 NOK/litre.
