A decent bus network (Intercity Buses) between Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa. City buses in each town. Few connections to the interior and the Troodos.
Train
No trains on the island.

Metered taxis in cities and shared 'urban' taxis on some routes. Bolt is available in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca, often cheaper.

Transport scams to know ⚠️
Overcharged quad/scooter rental
Pre-existing scratches or damage billed at return, common in Ayia Napa and Protaras.
Tip :Photograph and film the vehicle from every angle before setting off.
Incomplete rental insurance
High excess and 'premium insurance' sold at the counter under pressure.
Tip :Take out excess-waiver insurance in advance or check your card's coverage.
Practical tips
- You drive on the LEFT (British legacy): be careful at roundabouts and when pulling away.
- Renting a car is almost essential for the Troodos and the interior; the bus doesn't go there.
- To cross to the north, keep your passport and only cross at official checkpoints (Ledra Street in Nicosia).
