Istanbul and the tourist areas are generally safe. Verbal harassment can occur in less touristy areas. Modest dress is appreciated at religious sites.
LGBTQ+ travelers
Homosexuality is not illegal, but society is conservative outside Istanbul. Pride marches have been banned in recent years. Discretion is recommended.
