- No truly dangerous area. Standard caution around Zurich and Geneva stations at night
- In the mountains, never set off hiking out of season or in bad weather without gear: avalanches and rapid weather changes

- Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine (TBE) advised for prolonged hiking/camping in forests
Drinking water
Tap water and public fountains excellent and drinkable everywhere.
Mosquitoes
Present in summer with no risk of tropical disease. Ticks possible in forests in spring and summer.
General notes
Excellent but very expensive healthcare: good travel insurance is essential. The European Health Insurance Card is NOT valid (non-EU), and REGA (mountain rescue, 1414) can be very costly without coverage.
Women travelers
Very safe for women, including solo and at night. Standard vigilance.
LGBTQ+ travelers
A progressive country: marriage equality since 2022. Zurich and Geneva are very LGBTQ+ friendly.
