Areas to avoid
- No truly dangerous area. Extra pickpocket caution on Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square and in Prague's crowded metro/trams
- Avoid the currency exchange offices in the center and unofficial taxis around stations and the airport
- Some 'hostess' bars in central Prague practise abusive billing: steer clear

Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes in summer near lakes and rivers, no risk of tropical disease. Ticks possible in the forest in spring-summer.
General notes
Good-quality healthcare. The European Health Insurance Card is valid (EU country) but supplementary travel insurance is still recommended.
Women travelers
Very safe for women, including solo and at night. Standard vigilance against pickpockets and in Prague's party districts.
LGBTQ+ travelers
One of the most tolerant countries in Central Europe. Civil partnership recognized, Prague hosts a large Pride and has a lively gay scene. Discretion is sometimes advisable in rural areas.
