Drinking water

Good private clinics in Amman. Heatstroke and dehydration are the real risks in the desert: a hat, water and sunscreen are essential.
Women travelers
Jordan is safe for women travelers. Occasional harassment (stares, remarks, some taxi drivers): dress modestly, sit in the back of taxis and stay confident. Most women travel without trouble.
LGBTQ+ travelers
Homosexuality is not illegal but society remains conservative. Discretion advised: avoid any public displays of affection.
