Swarms of mosquitoes in Lapland during summer (June-August), disease-free: bring repellent. Watch out for ticks in the South.

Excellent healthcare. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid. Cold is the main medical risk: hypothermia and frostbite in winter.

Women travelers

Extremely safe to travel solo as a woman, day or night. Gender equality is among the strongest in the world.
