Safety Estonia
Tres sur
Estonia is very safe: violent crime is rare, with modern infrastructure and a well-organized digital society. The main risks are pickpockets in Tallinn's old town, bar scams and the winter cold. Its proximity to Russia does not affect travelers' safety.

Health & precautions
Vaccinations
- None required
- Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine (TBE) advised for forest hiking in spring/summer
Drinking water
Among the cleanest tap water in Europe, drinkable everywhere.
Mosquitoes
Present in summer near lakes, forests and bogs, with no disease risk. Watch out for ticks in forests and tall grass (TBE, Lyme).
General notes
A modern, largely digital healthcare system (e-health, electronic prescriptions). The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid. Single emergency number 112.
Women travelers
Very safe for women, including solo and at night in cities. Rare cases of verbal harassment at night in bars, standard vigilance.
LGBTQ+ travelers
Progressive by regional standards: the first Baltic country to legalise same-sex marriage (in force since January 2024). Tallinn and Tartu are welcoming; attitudes are more conservative in rural areas.
