Cash vs Carte
Sweden is one of the most cashless countries in the world. Card is accepted absolutely everywhere, even for 20 SEK. Locals mostly pay via Swish (a mobile app linked to their bank account). Many businesses simply refuse cash.
Distributeurs (ATM)
'Bankomat' ATMs present but declining. Rarely useful for a traveller.
Frais typiques
Free withdrawals with a Swedish card; possible fees for foreign non-eurozone cards.
Ou changer son argent
No need to change cash. Contactless card payment is enough. Avoid the commission-charging Forex bureaus.
Pourboires
No tip expected, service included.
Prix typiques
Arnaques a eviter
- !Unregulated taxis (free fares): check the price displayed on the window before getting in
- !Rare pickpockets in Stockholm's tourist areas in summer
Paiements digitaux
Apple Pay and Google Pay accepted everywhere. Swish dominates person-to-person payments (used by ~2/3 of Swedes) but requires a Swedish bank account — inaccessible to tourists, who pay by card.
