Etiquette
Spaniards eat late: lunch at 2pm, dinner at 9-10pm
Tapas are always shared
Leaving a little on your plate is normal, not rude
The sobremesa (lingering at the table after the meal) is sacred
Tipping is rare, rounding up the bill is enough
Regime
The tortilla española is vegetarian by default
Vegetable tapas are common: pimientos de padrón, escalivada
Barcelona and Madrid have many vegetarian restaurants
Beware: many dishes contain hidden jamón
Ask for 'sin carne ni pescado' to be clear
