Cards accepted almost everywhere, including in taxis. Keep a little cash for cafeterias, souks and tips.

Not required. 10-15% at restaurants if service isn't included, a few dirhams for porters.

ATMs everywhere (malls, metro, stations). Fees possible of 15-25 AED depending on the local bank.

- •Neighborhood cafeterias (Deira, Bur Dubai) serve shawarma and biryani for less than 25 AED
- •The Silver Nol Card makes the metro and bus very economical (7 AED for a long trip)
- •Friday/Saturday brunches are expensive, but weekday 'business lunches' run 40-70 AED
- •Tap water is drinkable but everyone drinks bottled: buy a pack at the supermarket
Devise : Dirham (AED)
- •1 EUR is worth about 4 AED (the dirham is pegged to the US dollar)
- •The mall exchange offices (Al Ansari, Lulu Exchange) offer better rates than the airport
- •Withdraw straight in dirhams at the ATM to avoid dynamic conversion
Arnaques courantes
- ⚠Unofficial taxi drivers outside the malls who inflate prices: take a metered RTA taxi
- ⚠Fake 'guides' for cut-price desert safaris: go through a recognized operator
- ⚠Service charge and tourist tax (Tourism Dirham 7-20 AED/night) often added at the end of the stay at the hotel
