An almost cashless country. Card and contactless work everywhere, even for 10 DKK. MobilePay is king among locals.

Hævekort ATMs everywhere in cities. Fees are rare with a European card, but you'll rarely need cash.

- •Denmark is expensive: a dorm bed runs around 150-350 DKK (20-47 EUR), a restaurant dish 200-350 DKK (27-47 EUR)
- •Shop at the discount supermarkets Netto, Fakta, Rema 1000 or Lidl rather than eating out
- •Stay in Nørrebro, Vesterbro or Islands Brygge rather than Nyhavn: 25-35% cheaper and 10 min by bike from the centre
- •Cycling is free and covers the whole city — no need to pay for transport in Copenhagen
- •Many museums are free on certain days (e.g. the Statens Museum for Kunst is always free)
