Card very well accepted in cities, but keep cash: many cafés, Heuriger and small shops stay cash-only

- •The midday dish of the day (Mittagsmenü / Tagesteller) runs around 10-14 EUR, half the price of à la carte in the evening
- •Book ÖBB tickets on Sparschiene up to 6 months in advance: from 9.90 EUR for Vienna-Salzburg instead of the 55 EUR full fare
- •Many Vienna museums are free on the 1st Sunday of the month or with the Vienna City Card
- •Drinking tap water (mountain Hochquellwasser) is excellent and free: skip the 3 EUR bottles

- ⚠Tourist restaurants around the Stephansdom: cover charge and bread billed, check the bill
