Cash vs Carte
The country runs largely on cash in practice. Cards accepted in Yerevan's hotels and restaurants, but always keep drams for marshrutkas, markets and villages.
Pourboires
Not required. Many restaurants add 10% service. Otherwise round up or leave 5-10%.
DAB / Distributeurs
ATMs everywhere in Yerevan and the big cities. Frequent fees (500-1500 AMD). Withdraw large sums at once.

- •Armenia is one of the cheapest countries in the Caucasus: 25-35 EUR/day is enough in backpacker mode
- •Marshrutkas (shared minibuses) cost 1-5 EUR between cities, unbeatable
- •Eating at a khorovatsanots (local grill) or a canteen runs 3-5 EUR a meal
- •Many monasteries and natural sites (Garni, Lake Sevan, Khor Virap) are free or nearly free

- •The dram (AMD) is worth about 430 to 1 EUR (2025-2026)
- •Change your euros at the exchange offices in Yerevan, plentiful and at a good rate, not at the airport
- •Always keep cash: outside Yerevan and in the countryside, cards work poorly
